Question
electrolysis or laser hair removal? and the area that is needed to be treated is the entire face and beard area. (am a woman who was born transsexual) thanks! also just a guesstimate what would the price cost?
Answer
Both are equally effective, but there are differences between them. Electrolysis has a proven track record for permanency, but it's expensive, time consuming and painful. It can also cause scarring if the operator isn't very experienced and careful. Although Laser is generally accepted as permanent, there are no long-term statistics that verify this; it simply hasn't been around long enough. Laser has some advantages; it's quicker, and has less risk of scarring; but it's at least as painful as electro, and no cheaper. Laser works best on dark hair/light skin, and is ineffective against white, or very pale hair; electro works on any skin type/hair colour combination. The price varies, so it's difficult to say what it will cost you; but as a rough guide, I paid £175.00 (about $325) a session, every eight weeks, for two and a half years (so around £3000, or $5600).
